Thermoforming Design

Every custom package begins in our design department. Our extensive thermoform packaging design experience allows us the knowledge necessary to design cost effective packaging solutions.

We utilize the latest high tech Computer Aided Design (CAD) software’s coupled with proprietary in-house systems to design packages that are thermoforming friendly.

Because design and tooling manufacturing are done under one roof, our design team will ensure designs meet the standards and requirements required for accurate and reliable manufacturing.

The Panic Design Process

Initial Concept

Once customer package needs are accessed, concept design is created, and a 3D model is supplied to the customer for review. If changes are needed, they can be made at this time, prior to prototype sample being cut. Typical lead time is 3 workdays.

Prototype Sample

Once concept is approved; a single cavity prototype mold is CNC machined or a FDM single cavity mold is created. Plastic samples are then formed from the sample mold. Samples are then sent to the customer for form, fit and function testing. Once testing is completed by customer, if any modifications are needed, they can be done now, before moving on to the production tooling. Typical lead time is 3 workdays.

Prototype Approval

Once the supplied prototype is approved, the next step is to begin production tooling. If any changes are needed, they can be made at this point, before moving on to production tooling. Typical lead time is 15-20 workdays.

Our proprietary tooling processes allow for fast tooling turnaround when absolutely needed.
